European Innovation Council (EIC) Information Event – 4th July 2024
The Research Operations Office EU Team is organising a European Innovation Council (EIC) Information Event for University of Cambridge Researchers. The online event will be held on the 4th July 2024, between 10:30am - 12:00pm (UK Time).
To book your place, please complete this online form by Thursday 20th June 2024. You will then be sent a confirmation and link to the online meeting.
The event is primarily aimed at University of Cambridge Researchers, but professional support service staff across the University are also welcome to attend. We will host a guest speaker from the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) to introduce the EIC Programme.

ERC Webinar on lump sum funding – recording available
On the 7th June 2024, there was an ERC online webinar about lump sum funding, where experts from the ERC Executive Agency answered questions about the new lump sum model of funding for 2024 Advanced Grants. The recording of the event is now available on the ERC YouTube channel.
Wellcome Trust Organisation Spend Report – Departmental Expenditure Checks
An Organisational Spend Report (OSR) is submitted quarterly to the Wellcome Trust (WT) by the Research Operations Office (ROO) for the months of March, June, September and December. Before ROO submits the next OSR, please could Departments check and verify all their WT expenditure on CUFS and make any amendments before the June 2024 General Ledger period closes.
Also, please be aware that the Wellcome Trust requires detailed explanations of spend in the following circumstances:
• Zero claims – why is there no spend this quarter?
• First spend claim – which spend period does this claim cover and does the start date need amending? Breakdown of claim required.
• If claim is 100% greater than previous quarter AND £50K more than previous quarter claim – provide a comment explaining why this claim amount is significantly higher in this period
• If claim is 50% greater than previous quarter AND £100K more than previous quarter claim - provide a comment explaining why this claim amount is significantly higher in this period
• Negative claims – provide details of the claim amount prior to any credits being applied as well as commentary to explain the credits
• Same claim amount as previous quarter – an explanation will be required.
Therefore, if we need to get in touch with you regarding Wellcome Trust spend, please provide as much information as possible in order that we can claim from the funder.
University of Zurich - Global Strategy and Partnerships Funding Scheme
The University of Zurich (UZH) Global Strategy and Partnerships Funding Scheme supports UZH faculties, departments and professional service units in pursuing activities that strengthen the impact of the global UZH network in line with the UZH Global Strategy.
The funding scheme is open to joint collaboration initiatives with specific partner universities of the University of Zurich, which includes the University of Cambridge. Two funding lines are open:
- a Seed Fund with funding of up to CHF 5,000 per project
- a Project Fund with funding of up to CHF 60,000 per project
