At Cambridge we are committed to achieving excellence in research and scholarship, ensuring that our activities contribute to the well-being of society. As the research landscape becomes increasingly complex, we need to be more proactive in the support we provide. The introduction of a Pre-Award Service will enable the Cambridge Research Office to deliver a PI-centric service to enable research excellence.

What does this look like?

The Pre-Award Service will increase our capacity so that we are able to offer specialist support for PIs and Schools / Departments including

  • Supporting PIs in seeking and obtaining funding from external sources

  • Improved ability to manage and engage in more complex / high risk activities

  • Provide PIs and research staff with greater clarity about the support available across the research administration functions of the University

What are we doing?

Recruitment to the new Pre-Award posts in the Research Office is progressing well with new staff starting in the Schools of Physical Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Humanities & Social Sciences and Clinical Medicine.  Further recruitment is underway and we will update you as more appointments are made. If you have any questions about this new service, please contact
