At Cambridge we are committed to achieving excellence in research and scholarship, ensuring that our activities contribute to the well-being of society. As the research landscape becomes increasingly complex, we need to be more proactive in the support we provide. The introduction of a Pre-Award Service will enable the Cambridge Research Office to deliver a PI-centric service to enable research excellence.
What does this look like?
The Pre-Award Service will increase our capacity so that we are able to offer specialist support for PIs and Schools / Departments including

Supporting PIs in seeking and obtaining funding from external sources

Improved ability to manage and engage in more complex / high risk activities

Provide PIs and research staff with greater clarity about the support available across the research administration functions of the University
What are we doing?
Recruitment to the new Pre-Award posts in the Research Office is progressing well with new staff starting in the Schools of Physical Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Humanities & Social Sciences and Clinical Medicine.
