Researchfish Submission Deadline – 14 March

The annual submission period on Researchfish is now open and the deadline to complete a return is 4pm on 14th March 2018 for most funders.

As we approach the halfway point, award holders are advised to allow plenty of time to log on to their Researchfish account, update their outputs, answer any additional questions that the funder may have and submit a return. Currently, only 10% of UKRI PIs who are a response code 1 have submitted their return. Please encourage PIs to make a submission at the earliest opportunity.

Wellcome Trust grant holders whose grant ends between 1 October 2018 and 30 September 2019 will also be asked to make a submission in Researchfish.

Further details are available on the ROO website.

Transforming Research Support

At Cambridge we are committed to achieving excellence in research and scholarship, ensuring that our activities contribute to the well-being of society. As the research landscape becomes increasingly complex, we need to be more proactive in the support we provide. The introduction of a Pre-Award Service will enable the Cambridge Research Office to deliver a PI-centric service to enable research excellence.

What does this look like?

The Pre-Award Service will increase our capacity so that we are able to offer specialist support for PIs and Schools / Departments including

  • Supporting PIs in seeking and obtaining funding from external sources

  • Improved ability to manage and engage in more complex / high risk activities

  • Provide PIs and research staff with greater clarity about the support available across the research administration functions of the University

What are we doing?

Recruitment to the new Pre-Award posts in the Research Office is progressing well with new staff starting in the Schools of Physical Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Humanities & Social Sciences and Clinical Medicine.  Further recruitment is underway and we will update you as more appointments are made. If you have any questions about this new service, please contact Jo.Dekkers@admin.cam.ac.uk

Research Dashboard Updates

There have been some updates to the Research Dashboard this week. You will see that it is now easier to scan the list of grants which is helpful for those with large datasets. Also each grant now has a unique URL, allowing users to communicate more easily about activity on the grant.

Please do take a look and feedback to the User Experience Team ux@uis.cam.ac.uk
