For UKRI grants, the starting certificate must be submitted in Je-S within 42 (calendar) days of the Project starting. The date entered on the Start Confirmation will be the Official Start Date of the Grant.

  • If you want to begin the project before the start date shown in the Offer Letter, you may do so, but this must not be earlier than the issue date of the Offer Letter itself.
  • If you need to delay the project, you can do this by up to 3 months from the start date show in the Offer Letter, but the duration of the Grant will remain unchanged. If the Project does not begin within 3 months of the start date in the Offer Letter, the Grant may lapse.

Once a start certificate has been submitted to UKRI it cannot be retracted. Instead, if you need to change a start date, you should request a change via the Grant Maintenance facility in Je-S to extend the latest start date outlining the reasons. Further information is available from the Je-S handbook.
