The University of Cambridge has developed a policy for the management of Financial Conflict of Interests (FCOI) for anyone applying or receiving research funding from US-based research organisations.
Some US funders have their own policies regarding the management and mitigations of FCOIs, for example, the National Science Foundation (NSF) as well as any US Public Health Service (PHS) which includes;
Anyone applying for or receiving funding from these institutions, must ensure they have read the requirements of both the University and the funder, and taken appropriate actions where necessary.
The policies apply to funding which is awarded directly as well as indirectly e.g. where the University receives US funding via another institution or sub-contracts out to another organisation.
