Research Dashboard Update: removal of outdated tabs

To improve accuracy and usability, we’re updating the Research Dashboard on Tuesday 27th May by removing the Applications, Contracts and Contacts tabs. These sections have been showing outdated information since the transition to Worktribe, where all relevant data is now maintained. These changes ensure the Dashboard remains a reliable tool for research support.

The Grants tab will remain in the Research Dashboard and continues to offer valuable features, including -

  • Viewing balances, budgets, and spend
  • Forecasting with staff commitments
  • Viewing grant team details
  • Checking grant status

These features were highlighted as most useful in a recent staff survey.

Where to find updated information -

Update to the University's Export Control Procedure and Guidance

On 1st May 2025, the Research Policy Committee approved an update to the University's Export Control Procedure and Guidance. The Research Office will be working with Schools and Departments/Faculties in the coming months to identify research groups to whom the Procedure is most relevant and to provide support for compliance.

The new Procedure requires research groups that may work with controlled goods, software or technology that are relevant to Export Control  -

  • to undertake export control training
  • to comply with the updated Procedure, which sets out when due diligence and other precautions should be taken

In the meantime, if you think that export control may apply to your work, further information can be found on the Research Office website.

Update to Mandatory NSF Training for Federally Funded Research Participants

As part of the University’s compliance with the U.S. CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, the Procedure for Handling Participation in Foreign Talent Recruitment Programmes has been updated.

Key Change

All individuals classified as Covered Individuals on U.S. federally funded research projects must now complete the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Security Training within one year of joining the project. This is a mandatory requirement for continued eligibility under federal funding guidelines.

Action Required -

  • Principal Investigators (PIs) must ensure that all Covered Individuals (including Co-Is, researchers, students, and collaborators) complete the NSF training
  • PIs must retain certificates of completion
  • Training must be renewed at least every three years

Departments should ensure their teams are aware of and comply with this updated requirement. Questions may be directed to the Research Office by contacting Rhys.Morgan@admin.cam.ac.uk or Sara.Hajnassiri@admin.cam.ac.uk
