Horizon Europe Lump Sum Funding Calls - Crib Sheet and Webinar

The Research Operations Office has produced a crib sheet for applications under Lump Sum Funding calls recently introduced under Horizon Europe. The crib sheet provides general information based on recent calls for collaborative research. We will be looking to update this in order to cover other forthcoming calls for ERC projects when the information becomes available.

On 7th June 2024, there will be a webinar where experts from the ERC Executive Agency will answer questions about the new lump sum model of funding for 2024 Advanced Grants. The event on the ERC YouTube channel starts at 11am, Central European Summer Time (CEST).

Reminder - Large Grant Contribution Fund

The University’s Large Grant Contribution Fund (LGCF) provides financial contributions for large collaborative research applications. At the beginning of 2024, there were some updates to the criteria -

  • in addition to applications led by Cambridge PIs, consideration will also be given to applications led by other institutions, where Cambridge is a major partner
  • the current threshold of eligibility for Arts, Humanities and Social Science discipline applications, has been reduced from £2m to £1m

Eligible applications for STEM thematic areas remains the same and needs to be over £5m.  All applications need to be fully collaborative, involving one or more external partners.

LGCF funding contributions are provided in particular for areas aligned with its priorities such as Widening Participation, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Building Capacity and Capability, and Building Partnerships.

Full details of the Fund eligibility, terms & conditions and application process are available on its webpage. If you have any questions, please contact us at rpc@admin.cam.ac.uk
