New fEC Rates
X5 was updated on 4th July 2023, with new fEC rates which are effective from 1st July 2023. The University has made an adjustment to the research charge-out rates following a review of the way central administration costs are classified, with the effect that the indirect rate has reduced and the estates rates have increased slightly.
For existing costings in X5, the Rates tab will show these files as out of date. To apply the new rates to existing costings, go to the rates table tab and update the out of date files by clicking on “apply all updated files now”. Please be aware that your costs will change due to these new rates.
Research Grants User Group Meeting – 20th July 2023
The next Research Grants User Group (RGUG) will take place as a Teams meeting on Thursday 20th July at 11:15am. The agenda will include a presentation on Trusted Research and Export Control, updates on the Grant Management Support (GMS) Project and Horizon Europe news. European Cooperation in Science and Technology - Information Sessions July 2023
The European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) is an EU-funded programme which provides researchers and innovators with funding to set up interconnected, interdisciplinary and collaborative research networks in Europe and beyond. UKRO is hosting two information sessions aimed at professional services staff and those interested in applying to the COST Action 2023 call.

Session two: 19h July 2023 includes
- activities reimbursed by COST, budgeting and reporting
- tip and tricks for submissions

Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023 - updated guidance
The European Commission has published an updated version of the Guide for Applicants for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023 call. Further details about the changes are available on the UKRO website. These updates are also reflected on ROO website.

New Elements Video – how to use the reporting features
Elements is the University's research information management system used by researchers across the institution to collate, share and report on their research outputs. A new video has been produced aimed at staff who have administrative responsibility for a department or group. You’ll learn about how to run reports in Elements, filter and export data.
Wellcome Trust Organisation Spend Report – Departmental Expenditure Checks
An Organisational Spend Report (OSR) is submitted quarterly to the Wellcome Trust (WT) by the Research Operations Office (ROO) for the months of March, June, September and December. Before ROO submits the next OSR, please could Departments check and verify all their WT expenditure on CUFS and make any amendments before the June 2023 General Ledger period closes.
