Official Development Assistance Allocation Call Information

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has confirmed an additional Official Development Assistance (ODA) allocation to UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) for the financial year of 2022 to 2023.

Call 1: Other ODA Awards. Deadline - Tuesday 8 November 2022 at 5pm.

The University has been allocated £180,000.00 for the Other ODA Award with the aim of maximising the economic or social development impact for countries on the OECD DAC list.

All spend must be allocated directly to an eligible UKRI project and can include awards that have now closed. If the original award was not ODA compliant, the Other ODA award funds may still be used to support follow-on activity. All expenditure is expected to be in the ODA partner country and spent by 31st March 2023. We expect to fund seven projects of around £25,000 each.

The following awards are not eligible for support -

• GCRF ‘Quality-related’ (QR) funding.

• The 12 UKRI GCRF Global Interdisciplinary Research Hubs

• Training grants

• Any other Research Council block awards (for example the Research Council Impact Acceleration Accounts, Institutional Sponsorships, or other equivalents)

• Any GCRF or Newton Fund grant awarded top up funds through any other mechanism as part of the £23.7m ODA allocation from BEIS for this financial year.

If you wish to apply for the funding, please complete the Application Form and return by 5pm on Tuesday 8 November 2022 to the Cambridge Research Office email GCRFTeam@admin.cam.ac.uk

MSCA Doctoral Network 2022 Call Information

Academics and research support staff can find details of the MSCA Doctoral Networks on the ROO website. Information includes

  • a crib sheet about the scheme
  • updated Part B information for the MSCA DN scheme

As noted in the crib sheets, due to the UK’s delay in association to Horizon Europe, careful consideration should be paid to the composition of the consortium to ensure suitable contingencies can be put place, should the UK’s lack of association extend.

If you have any queries about this, please contact the EU and International team mscagrants@admin.cam.ac.uk

Horizon Results Booster Event for H2020 & FP7 PIs, 3rd November 2022

The EU and International Team together with Cambridge Enterprise are organising an online information event on 3rd November about the Horizon Results Booster (HRB) for Horizon 2020 and FP7 Projects at the University. An update agenda is available on the ROO website.

Horizon Results Booster (HRB) is an initiative of the European Commission which aims to support projects funded by the EU Framework Programme (FP) to help innovations go to market and maximise their impact. The HRB offers free capacity building services to any closed or ongoing research projects funded by FP7, Horizon 2020 or Horizon Europe programmes. It is not affected by the current uncertainty over the UK’s association to Horizon Europe.

If you would like to attend the 3rd November online event as an H2020 or FP7 PI, please e-mail HRBevent@admin.cam.ac.uk. The closing date for registration is 27th October.
