After careful consideration, the Research Office has decided to cancel the forthcoming pFACT upgrade scheduled for 19-25 August 2010. Our investigations have uncovered a number of concerns including a critical system issue involving the costing of named staff and a serious number of bugs for which fixes are not yet available.
The Research Office looked at postponing the upgrade until September 2010 to allow for fixes and additional testing of the software, however to schedule an upgrade during one of the busiest times for applications would be inappropriate as it would risk the integrity and accuracy of costing research proposals.
A discussion will be held at the next RGUG on 28 September 2010 in order to consider how best to proceed.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those who volunteered their valuable time to undertake testing and to all pFACT users for working with us during the last few weeks.
