UKRI Guarantee Extension

On 1st September, the UK Government announced an extension to the financial guarantee provided to successful UK applicants to the Horizon Europe Programme.

This new extension means that the guarantee funding will cover all Horizon Europe calls that close on or before 31st December 2022, with the majority of grant signature dates expected before the end of August 2023. Previously, the Guarantee only covered calls where the grant agreement was expected to be signed by the end of 2022.

The UKRI Guarantee Guidance has been updated with this new extension. The list of calls in the annex covered by the Guarantee has been replaced by a comprehensive commitment to include all Horizon Europe calls with a final submission deadline date on or before 31st December 2022 (as shown on the EC Funding and Tenders Portal). For calls with multiple separate deadlines, applications submitted to those deadlines that fall on or before 31st December 2022 will be eligible. For two-stage calls, only a final submission deadline on or before 31st December is considered to be in scope.

Elements: major upgrade now complete

A major upgrade of Elements, the University’s Research Information Management System has taken place and is ready for the new academic year.

Elements users will notice a big difference in the look and feel, as well as several functional improvements. To get you started we’ve created a quick tour of what’s changed. Upgrading to the latest release will give us a strong platform from which to better support researchers and research administrators across the University.

Alongside the upgraded system, a new Research Information SharePoint site provides completely revised, accessible user guides to help people get the most from the system’s features. We hope that this will make it easier to introduce new staff and students to Elements, and to learn about future improvements.
