Horizon Europe Webinars

The UK Research Office (UKRO) together with the University of Cambridge will be presenting webinars on the following topics -

  • Moving from Horizon 2020 to Horizon Europe

There will be an update on the structure of Horizon Europe compared to Horizon 2020 as well as details about submission & evaluation, legal and finance changes.  This session is particularly aimed at research and grants management staff.

  • MSCA in Horizon Europe - changes to the programme's structure and implementation novelties

This session will focus on the Doctoral Networks and Postdoctoral Fellowships including implementation novelties such as new allowances and eligibility. We will also be covering the University of Cambridge internal application process.

Horizon Europe Information Days 2021

The European Commission has shared details of its Horizon Europe Info Days, which will take place online from 28 June to 9 July 2021. This 10-day event will provide an opportunity for prospective applicants and other stakeholders of EU research and innovation to receive information and ask questions about the novelties, main funding instruments and processes of Horizon Europe.

The days will address nine themes, each dedicated to a different 'Cluster' or part of the new programme

  • 28 June – Research Infrastructures
  • 20 & 30 June - Digital, Industry & Space (Cluster 4)
  • 30 June - Civil Security for Society (Cluster 3)
  • 1 July - Culture, Creativity & Inclusive Society (Cluster 2)
  • 1 July - The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions: what's new under Horizon Europe
  • 2 July - Health (Cluster 1)
  • 5 & 6 July - Climate, Energy & Mobility (Cluster 5)
  • 7 & 8 July - Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture & Environment (Cluster 6)
  • 9 July - European Research Area (ERA) & Widening

Cambridge Africa ALBORADA Research Fund 2021

The Cambridge-Africa programme is pleased to announce that the call for proposals to the ALBORADA Research Fund is now open.

Applications are invited from pairs of researchers (post-doctoral level and above) from the University of Cambridge or an affiliated institution and sub-Saharan African institutions, across all disciplines, to initiate and/or strengthen research collaborations. The Cambridge-Africa ALBORADA Research Fund competitively awards grants of between £1,000 and £20,000 for:

• research costs (such as reagents, fieldwork and equipment)

• research-related travel between Cambridge and Africa (bearing in mind feasibility of travel due to COVID restrictions)

• conducting research training activities in Africa (e.g. workshops/courses)
