US Federal Funding - Transparency Requirements Reminder

Anyone applying for or in receipt of U.S. federal funding must be wholly transparent about all financial and in-kind support from, and affiliations with, international institutions. There have been successful prosecutions in the U.S. of federally funded academics; the need for full transparency is legally enforced.

Guidance about the transparency requirements for U.S. Institutes for Health (NIH) grants at the time of application and thereafter is available on the Research Operations Office website.

End of Grant Financial Reporting and Final Invoicing

The impact of the COVID pandemic has led to the Research Office working at reduced capacity and this means that our Post Award teams will no longer be able to extend a CUFS grant close date (usually two months after the end of the grant). This is to ensure that the Post Award team are able to make any adjustments needed during the one month period prior to the reporting submission deadline. The Research Office will continue to remind departments when their grant has come to an end and the final invoice and reporting is due.

This new way of working will take effect from 1st March 2021.

Researchfish Funder Submission is open for 2021

The annual submission period for UKRI, NIHR, CRUK, BHF and other funders is 1st February to 11th March 2021 during which time PIs can use their Researchfish account to submit a return on their research outputs. Due to the current COVID pandemic, many funders are reviewing their exemption and sanction policies to take account of those individuals who are unable to report during the 2021 submission window. PIs who are unable to submit their return this year, are encouraged to contact their funder for consideration regarding their exemptions policy. Further details can be found on the Research Office website.

For UKRI students, reporting in Researchfish is optional for the 2021 submission period and students should not feel under pressure to report at the expense of completing their research training. Note that for those PIs who are able to, they should submit a return in Researchfish in the usual way between 1st February - 11th March 2021.
