UKRI to switch over its COVID-19 Open Call to JeS

The application process for UK Research and Innovation’s (UKRI) COVID-19 open call will change on 31st July 2020. After this date, instead of submitting a proposal via email, researchers must apply via UKRI’s online submission system the “Joint Electronic Submission” (JeS). Further details are available on the UKRI website.

UKRI COVID-19 Grant Extension Allocation (CoA)

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is issuing a COVID-19 Grant Extension Allocation (CoA) to UK organisations to support costed extensions to grants affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective is to ensure that UKRI grant outcomes continue to be met and the value of its grant investments continue to be realised.

The allocation that will be awarded to the University of Cambridge is conditional on UKRI accepting our Governance Plan which will outline a number of key requirements including

  • the University's decision-making process to prioritise the use of the allocation
  • mechanisms to maintain the disciplinary balance and cross-Council activity
  • oversight of permitted change of use in existing grant funding
  • the process for protecting equality, diversity and inclusion to ensure compliance with the Equality Act 2010

UKRI have set out their terms and conditions by which funding can be used and this will be incorporated into the University's Governance Plan. We expect to be able to share further details about this at the Research Grants User Group Meeting on Tuesday 28th July at 11:15am, please see joining instructions below.
