Electronic Signature on Timesheets

In response to queries that the Research Operation Office have received about the use of electronic signatures on timesheets, we would like to confirm that electronic signatures are acceptable as long as the following conditions are fulfilled -
  • timesheets have either image signatures or certified digital signatures (rather than simply a typed name)
  • timesheets are PDF’d when they are authorised (rather than being retained in, for example, an editable excel spreadsheet)

Research Office Support for Tackling COVID-19

The equipment database was developed in 2012 as a response to changes by RCUK to the way that equipment on research grants would be funded and in particular increase shared usage. When the call came to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, the database proved a useful tool to identify potential equipment that could be shared to support the Government's rapidly developing CV19 test facility in Milton Keynes and the Cambridge National Screening Centre. Dr Chris Wilkinson, the Equipment Sharing Project Manager has written about how he helped to co-ordinate this task.
