fEC and Income Allocation Policy Seminar – Tuesday 18th June 2019

This briefing is relevant to all staff involved in research grants, particularly those new to the University or wishing to increase their understanding of University policy and its impact on research grants and their administration.

Content includes

  • Clarity on definitions of Direct costs and Indirect costs

  • What the PI should be aware of at application stage

  • How the Income Allocation Policy apportions overheads between the Department and the University

Marie Curie Individual Fellowships 2019 Information Event – Wednesday 26th June 2019

This event is aimed primarily at researchers and administrative staff who will be involved in applying for Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions - Individual Fellowship 2019.

The agenda will include

  • an introduction to the call 

  • guidance on how to prepare and submit the grant application

  • case study presentations from a PI and Fellow who were successful from the 2018 call

  • a presentation from an evaluator's perspective

The deadline for applications is 11th September 2019.

ERC Funding Programmes and the ERC Advanced Grant Call Information Event - Friday 5th July

This event is aimed at researchers and administrative staff who are involved in ERC funding programmes and / or the specifics of the ERC advanced grant call 2019.

Session 1 - overview of the ERC funding programmes

Session 2 - focus on the details of the ERC call for advanced grants with a deadline of 29 August 2019

There will be presentations from

  • Prof Martin Jones - ERC advanced grant holder and evaluation Panel Chair for the ERC

  • Dr Andreas Kontogeorgos - European Advisor at the UK Research Office in Brussels and the UK national contact point for H2020

  • Mrs Francesca Nieto - European Research Facilitator in charge of the ERC portfolio at the Research Operations Office.

NERC 2019 Capital Equipment Call for Science, Innovation, Estates, IT and/or Facilities

Eligible research organisations and NERC research centres are invited to submit up to two proposals for this pre-announcement NERC Capital Equipment Call (with a minimum value of £100,000 per proposal, but not exceeding a combined total value of £300,000).
