Contract Status Portal Retirement – 31st January 2019

The Contract Status Portal is due to be retired on 31st January 2019 as its content has now been integrated into the Research Dashboard. The dashboard offers Researchers and Administrators an overview of their contracts, applications and grants including the status of a contract negotiation as well as a summary of the current balance on a research grant.

If you currently use the Contract Status Portal, try logging on to the Research Dashboard and make sure you can access the data you expect to see for Contracts.  If you have any questions, please get in touch with your Department Administrator or your contact at the Research Operations Office.

Symplectic Elements Link to Researchfish until 1st February 2019

The annual submission period for UKRI, CRUK, NIHR, NC3R’s, BHF and other funders is 4th February to 14th March 2019 during which time PIs need to use their Researchfish account to make a return. To help with this process, research outputs entered into Symplectic Elements will be uploaded to Researchfish on a weekly basis up until Friday 1st February.

After this date, Symplectic Elements will not be linked to Researchfish and any additional inputs will need to be made into Researchfish directly during the submission period. Therefore please encourage PIs to include their research outputs in Symplectic Elements before 1st February, as this will help them during the submission period as their data will have been preloaded into Researchfish when they have to submit their return. Note that the research outputs being uploaded from Symplectic Elements to Researchfish are journal articles, conference proceedings, book chapters and data sets where they have a unique identifier (i.e. DOI).

Information on how to link grants with publications in Symplectic Elements is available in Moodle and details about the annual submission process on Researchfish can be found on the Research Operations Office website.

Research Grants Numbering

The numbering for Research Grants has changed. As of early January 2019 we ran out of the 5 digit RG number system RG99999 and instead we are now using the 6 digit numbering system G100000.

Work has been undertaken to make changes in the CUFS and CHRIS systems to take account of the new number system. Departments may wish to consider any internal systems and documentation that they use and make the necessary adjustments.

If you have any queries, please contact Mike.Sinclair@admin.cam.ac.uk Head of Central and Research Accounting.
