Researchfish submission deadline – 15 March

The annual submission period on Researchfish is 5th February 2018 to 4pm on 15th March 2018.

As we approach the halfway point, award holders from RCUK, BHF, CRUK, NIHR & NC3Rs are advised to allow plenty of time to log on to their researchfish account, update their outputs, answer any additional questions that the funder may have and submit a return. Currently, 11% of PIs who are a response code 1 have submitted their return. Please encourage PIs to make a submission at the earliest opportunity. Further details are available on the ROO website.

X5 Training

The training covers setting up an X5 using the Project Wizard as well as using the correct methodology for capturing costs.

fEC and Income Allocation Policy Seminar – 30 April

This briefing is relevant to all staff involved in research grants, particularly those new to the University or wishing to increase their understanding of University policy and its impact on research grants and their administration.

Content includes

  • Clarity on definitions of Direct costs and Indirect costs
  • What the PI should be aware of at application stage
  • How the Income Allocation Policy apportions overheads between the Department and the University

Equipment Sharing at Cambridge

Since the launch of the Equipment sharing initiative 5 years ago, the University of Cambridge now has over 3000 individual items of equipment available for sharing http://www.equipment.admin.cam.ac.uk/ The equipment database has been accessed by over 10,500 users and helps researchers find equipment and facilities within the University whilst allowing equipment owners to increase the exposure of their facilities to help recover equipment maintenance costs.

Upcoming Equipment Funding Calls

During April / May 2018 there will be a Royal Society Research Grants Scheme call specifically aimed at researchers in the UK who are at an early stage in their career and would like to purchase specialised equipment and consumables to develop new ideas and projects. Further details will be circulated when the call opens. Research Grant User Group Meeting

The next RGUG meeting is scheduled for Thursday 26th April, 2pm - 3.30pm in Mill Lane Lecture Room 7. Presentations from the previous meeting on 6th February are available on the ROO website .
