Inappropriate use of RCUK funds – future grant reviews

The Chief Operating Officer of EPSRC has brought an incident of inappropriate use of funds by an HEI to our attention. It is related to payments for dinner that are contrary to the conditions for RCUK grants. Most other funders  have similar policies. Please find the full message from EPSRC here. Please note that future reviews of grants undertaken by the RCUK Funding Assurance Programme will pay particular attention to this type of expenditure.

New Income Allocation Policy effective from 1st August 2016

Income received from Research Grants and Contracts that is surplus to direct costs on the project is split between the Chest and Department in line with the University’s Income Allocation Policy (IAP). Please note that the split currently indicated in X5 only applies to grants that are activated before 1st August 2016. From that date onwards the new splits will apply that are specified in the new Income Allocation Policy. For more information regarding the new splits please refer to the PRAO website
