Further scheduled rises in the USS pension rates are planned to come into effect in October 2019 and April 2020. The Wellcome Trust are requesting that where an application is currently under review for award, that salary costings are revised to accommodate for the planned rises so that this can be reflected in the budgets being awarded. This is a new requirement by the Wellcome Trust only.
The Wellcome Trust are emailing Principal Investigators directly to request re-budgeting. Please forward these emails onto your grants team at the Research Office who will be able to provide you with a breakdown of basic salary, NI and USS per year for all USS posts affected. In the requests that we have received so far, the Wellcome Trust have given a deadline by which they require the updated costings, therefore please forward any requests to us as soon as possible.
