The Royal Society Research Grant Scheme is now open for scientists who are at an early stage in their career or returning from a career break.

The objective of the scheme is to increase the availability of specialised equipment and essential consumable materials, and to support essential field research. The scheme covers all areas of the life and physical sciences, including engineering, but excluding clinical medicine. Grant of up to £20,000 (incl. VAT) are available for the purchase of specialised equipment directly related to the proposal, essential consumable materials, travel as well as subsistence for essential field research.

Applications should be submitted through the Royal Society’s electronic grant application system (Flexi-Grant) by 3pm on Wednesday 6th June 2018. Applications are initially reviewed by two members of the Royal Society Research Grants panel and shortlisted applications are reviewed by the Panel Chair who makes the final decision.
