The Office of Scholarly Communication (OSC) is pleased to announce the programme for the one-day symposium on “Open Access monographs: from policy to reality”.

Wednesday 2nd October 2019

9am – 5pm

St Catharine’s College, McGrath Centre, Cambridge

This one-day symposium will explore the policies, economics and future directions of Open Monograph publishing. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss innovations in the sector, share their enthusiasms and concerns about current developments, and learn more about the opportunities for and realities of publishing an open access book.   

Keynote speakers include

  • Professor Martin Eve (Birbeck, University of London)
  • Professor Margot Finn (President of the Royal Historical Society)

The panel discussions are comprised by representatives from Research England, The Wellcome Trust, academic experts on the subject as well as various publishing houses.  The panel discussions will aim to create a forum for researchers to express the challenges and benefits they foresee if open access monographs.
