The fEC Rates used by the University from the 1st February 2018 saw a notable increase to the Indirect Cost Rate. The calculation of the University fEC Rates is based on a prescribed method approved by HEFCE using information that appears in the University’s financial statements.
The increase from the previous year has primarily been caused as a result of changes to HE accounting standards and in the methodology used in calculating the fEC Rates. These changes have been implemented across the sector and other Universities have reported similar movements in their fEC Rates.
