ERC Advanced Grant Webinar – 10th June
The UK Research Office (UKRO) in their capacity of ERC National Contact Point is organising a webinar for researchers who are interested in applying for the 2025 ERC Advanced Grant call. The online session will provide information on the submission process, how proposals are evaluated and other elements you'll need to consider when designing a project for your research excellence idea.

A new update for the 2025 ERC Advanced Grant call includes an increase to the maximum additional funding of up to EUR 2,000,000 where Principal Investigators are re-locating to the EU or an Associated Country to take up their ERC grant. Further details can be found on the ERC Work Programme 2025, (p18 footnote).
The Research Office will be preparing a crib sheet which is expected to be available at the end of June. The deadline for applications to the Research Office is Monday 18th August 2025.
Cambridge-Africa ALBORADA Research Fund 2025
The Cambridge-Africa programme is pleased to announce that the call for proposals to the ALBORADA Research Fund is now open.
Applications are invited from pairs of researchers (post-doctoral level and above) from the University of Cambridge or an affiliated institute and African universities or research
institutes, across all disciplines, to initiate and/or strengthen research collaborations. Please note that the African applicant can be based in any African country and the awards are no longer restricted to African researchers from sub-Saharan Africa.
The Cambridge-Africa ALBORADA Research Fund competitively awards grants of between £1,000 and £20,000 for:
- research costs (such as reagents, fieldwork and equipment)
- research-related travel between Cambridge and Africa
- conducting research training activities in Africa (e.g. workshops/courses)

UKRI Draft Research Data Policy – Opportunity to Comment
UKRI is seeking feedback on a new draft research data policy which –
- will update and streamline UKRI’s expectations for sharing/managing research data (including digital objects such as software & code) arising from UKRI funding research
- aims to support good research practice and to maximise the value of publicly funded research data for research, innovation and society
The draft policy, information about its development and how to provide feedback can be found on UKRI’s website. The deadline for feedback is Wednesday 9th July 2025.
Until UKRI provides further notice, applicants and award holders must continue to follow existing policies and guidance.
Statements of Need in EPSRC Research Infrastructure
EPSRC wishes to understand the scale, range, nature, and scientific value of potential large-scale infrastructure investments in the UK to help inform future decision-making.
Representatives of relevant scientific communities are invited to submit statements of need according to the assessment criteria – further details are available on their website.
