Closing Grants Project - departments with unclosed grants

As part of the Finance Transformation programme, the University is addressing a backlog of unclosed research grants to ensure clean data ahead of the Oracle Fusion system launch. This applies only to departments with grants that ended before December 2023 but are still open in CUFS. Affected departments are being contacted directly and will receive support to resolve remaining issues.

Further details were given at the RGUG meeting on 16th July and the recording and slides are now available. For any queries, please contact your Research Office Assistant Director

How Narrative CVs affect Postdoctoral Recruitment – participants needed

Integrating and assessing positive research culture is increasingly important in research grants. Narrative CVs aim to improve one aspect of research culture.

We are inviting researchers who are hiring Postdoctoral Research Assistants (PDRAs) or Teaching Assistants to be part of the Action Research on Research Culture (ARRC) study which is evaluating the effects of narrative CVs that some funders have recently introduced. The study tests the impact of using Narrative CVs compared to traditional CVs in hiring PDRAs and will provide empirical evidence of their effect on the shortlisting of candidates.

Participants would ask applicants to submit a Narrative CV, a traditional CV, and your usual application materials e.g. cover letter. We will work with you to support this process. FAQs on this study are also available.

If you can help, we would love to hear from you. Please email us at arrcproject@admin.cam.ac.uk

Help us improve the Cambridge Research Office websites

We’re transforming 12 Cambridge Research website into 2 - designed with you in mind. We’re aiming to offer a clearer, more user-focused online experience for researchers, professional services staff, collaborators, and funders - starting with improved content and navigation. But we can’t do it without your help.

We’re running an online study to check the proposed website navigation. If you are University of Cambridge staff involved in research or research administration we’d love for you to be involved. Your feedback will shape the new design.

Thank you to those who have already completed the website study. We have incorporated your feedback which means you don’t need to complete it again.
