BA Small Grants Scheme workshop: Wednesday 26 October, 10:00am

Departmental Research Administrators are invited to take part in a 1 hour workshop to discuss how best to support the expected high volume of applications to the forthcoming British Academy small grants scheme, deadline 9 November. 

Facilitated by the Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences team at the Research Office, the workshop is open to any Departmental Administrator who would like to better understand and more effectively support the application process for this call and raise more general issues for discussion. This is the first in a series of workshops which will each focus on a different sponsor and call deadline.

Research Grants User Group (RGUG) meeting: Tuesday 1 November, 9:30am

The next meeting of the RGUG will take place on Tuesday 1 November at 9:30am and will be held in the Hopkinson Lecture Theatre, New Museums Site, Free School Lane, Cambridge (please note change of venue). The RGUG is led by the Research Office and is a forum where research grant administration issues and developments are discussed. Minutes and presentations from the previous meeting can be found on the Research Office website http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/research/rgug/.

Research Data Management Workshops: 9-11 November

The UK Digital Curation Centre (DCC) http://www.dcc.ac.uk/ is running a series of inter-linked regional workshops as part of the DCC Roadshow, aimed at supporting institutional research data management planning and training.

The sixth DCC Roadshow is being organised in conjunction with the Cambridge University Library and will take place 9-11 November at the Homerton College Conference Centre, Cambridge. Running over 3 days, different workshops will provide advice and guidance tailored to a range of audiences including Repository Managers, Research Support staff, Managers of IT/Computing Services and practising researchers.

  • Day 1 - The Research Data Landscape (introduction with case studies)
  • Day 2 - The Research Data Challenge for Institutions (strategic policy and planning)
  • Day 3 - Data Curation 101 training course (practice and tools)
