Cancer Research UK Grant Finance Changes

Indexation:

  • From 1st April 2016 indexation will be reduced from 2.5% to 2%
  • Only affects grant award letters sent on or after 1st April 2016
  • Continue to submit applications without indexation

On-costs:

  • In light of SA and NI increases as of 1st April 2016, CRUK will cover these costs up to their standard 28%, higher than this will have to be met by the department.

 

New Jisc-funded service for recruiting participants

The Research Office has been asked to pass on information on a new Jisc-funded service, Call For Participants. This is a free online service for advertising surveys, interviews and other research studies to the public and recruiting participants. For further information see please refer to the ‘call for participants’ website.

Please note: projects utilising online recruitment services must still meet University standards for ethical consideration of research.

 

Open Science Framework - platform to manage research data

Are you interested in research data management? Then you should consider applying to become a member of the Research Data Management (RDM) Project Group.

What is the purpose of this Group?

  • Review, evaluate and improve current provisions for RDM and data sharing support at the University of Cambridge
  • Propose and create new solutions for RDM and data sharing at the University of Cambridge
  • Review and propose policies for RDM and sharing
  • Monitor and evaluate RDM solutions available externally
  • Ensure sustainability of research data management support models at the University of Cambridge

Workshop: Finding and accessing human genomic data for research

You have probably been in this situation before: How do you find and access data for your research?

In this workshop we will discuss the current challenges in data sharing, focusing especially on challenges faced by researchers studying cancer and genetic diseases. During the session we will present and demonstrate a number of current tools and resources for finding, accessing and sharing genomic data and discuss the best practices for using data to power your hypothesis-testing and maximising your research impact.
