Wellcome Trust Visit - 15 January

The Wellcome Trust Medical Humanities and Research Resources officers are visiting Cambridge on Thursday 15 January 2015. As part of their programme they will be holding an open session (with Q&A) which will explain their new funding schemes, primarily in their Medical Humanities and Society and Ethics strands.

ERC Consolidator Grant Information Session – Thursday 22 January

The European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant scheme is available to academics who are 7 – 12 years following their PhD. The scheme is aimed at academics from any discipline  and is judged on the excellence of both the applicant and the project. Funding of up to €2M is available for projects up to 5 years and the call deadline is 12 March 2015.

The Research Operations Office (ROO) is organising an information session on how to apply to the scheme:-

The session will include a brief overview of the scheme by Bethan Jones, the ERC Officer at ROO and will have input from current grant holders and ERC review panel. There will be the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session.

Twinning Call Presentation – 29 January

The European Commission has launched the “Call for Twinning” within the Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation strand of Horizon 2020, which aims to increase the participation rate of low performing countries through a series of initiatives. The Twinning Call will address the networking gaps and deficiencies between the research institutions of the low performing member state (EU13) and their internationally leading counterparts (EU15). The call deadline is 7 May 2015. Budget for the 2015 call will be €64M and will fund projects of up to €1M for a maximum duration of 3 years.

The Research Office and International Strategy Office will be hosting an event to present the Twinning call and proposal process.  There will also be an opportunity to discuss individual projects at the end of the session but please state this when booking a place.
