Applicants and grant holders of the Wellcome Trust should be aware of the following funding updates:
- Funding for enhancements is now available. It is designed to provide additional funding for existing grant holders to explore important new opportunities or paths of discovery as their work unfolds.
- Unsuccessful applicants for the Senior Investigator Awards scheme in Biomedical Science will normally be expected to wait 12 months, rather than two years before resubmitting an application.
- The Trust's inflation allowance for new grant awards has been revised to 1.7 per cent per year. This change came into effect from 1 March 2011.
- For awards made from 1 October 2011, the Flexible Funding Allowance will only be provided on studentships, training and intermediate fellowships. For other grant schemes, where FFAs are no longer be provided, costs may be requested at application stage.
