Are you considering applying for a Wellcome Trust grant? As of 1 August 2015 all researchers submitting a grant application to the Wellcome Trust must have an ORCID (Open Researcher and contributor iD). ORCIDs are a unique identifier for researchers and will differentiate you from other researchers with the same name. ORCID IDs are linked to and increasingly required by many publishers, repositories and funders.
