As part of the University’s compliance with the U.S. CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, the Procedure for Handling Participation in Foreign Talent Recruitment Programmes has been updated.
Key Change
All individuals classified as Covered Individuals on U.S. federally funded research projects must now complete the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Security Training within one year of joining the project. This is a mandatory requirement for continued eligibility under federal funding guidelines.
Action Required -
- Principal Investigators (PIs) must ensure that all Covered Individuals (including Co-Is, researchers, students, and collaborators) complete the NSF training
- PIs must retain certificates of completion
- Training must be renewed at least every three years
Departments should ensure their teams are aware of and comply with this updated requirement. Questions may be directed to the Research Office by contacting Rhys.Morgan@admin.cam.ac.uk or Sara.Hajnassiri@admin.cam.ac.uk
